The Power of Words!

God created the world by speaking. Hebrews 4:12 NIV says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” James 3:5-6 NIV “Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.”

In the month of October, many different groups of people speak curses over God’s kids. They are plugged into the wrong spiritual power source. They have linked with God’s enemy for what they believe is protection, power, and control. Many join groups seeking relief from the pain of trauma. Past wounds of abuse, condemnations and never feeling good enough connect them with other wounded people groups.

Others seek drugs, alcohol, sex, and even food for comfort. I remember the trauma I carried while in the U.S. Air Force. I would drink and smoke marijuana to release the pain temporarily. If we don’t understand why people deal with trauma, we will judge and condemn people for their actions. Instead, we need to see the fruit of trauma and pain and ask God how to help people out of the dark tunnels of the wrong relief.

Removing Webs of Deception!

Here are some of the insights the Holy Spirit revealed to me on how to pray for those captured in the web of God’s enemy’s lies.

As believers in Jesus, we need to repent for judging people instead of seeing people through God’s love. When a religious spirit clouds our thinking, we place people in our box of “follow these rules” instead of releasing God’s grace on a person. Does that mean we ignore the sin? No! If you see someone eaten up with cancer, does it help to point to the cancer? It is the same with sin. It is the Holy Spirit’s job to point out people are on the wrong path. Ask God how to approach someone to help them get set free. You will be amazed how God will show you what to do.

Ask for God’s mercy on this person trapped in sin. God’s kindness breaks down the walls and opens the prison doors for those who are tangled up in lies.

Trauma is a key reason people get trapped into life destroying paths. Many alterative groups that lead people away from God are formed out of trauma. Their wounds cause them to gather with other wounded people. It is their way of protecting themselves and causing them to rely on false power resources. Ask God to remove the trauma that caused the wounds. Ask God to reveal the root of the trauma.

Many walls of resistance to God are built by the spirit of pride, independence, desire for control over one’s life, and lust for power. We have the power to bind the lie and cast down the false imaginations. Then we ask Holy Spirit to reveal God’s truth to them. That is the power given to us, as Christians, to bind and loose God’s will on earth. Jesus’ gave us this power to bring God’s Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

You can ask Holy Spirit to shake their connection to the wrong power source through God’s dreams, visions, and encounters with God’s Kingdom. What is the wrong power source? It is using your God given gifts without God. You see this with psychics. They have a gift of discernment and seeing into the spirit realm. Instead of tapping into the Holy Spirit who reveals God’s nature and truths, they tap into the devils domain which leads to death and torment. The gift rules them and causes visions and dreams that torment them. God’s power source, the Holy Spirit, corrects you but always gives you a choice to follow God’s path. Your free will is never taken away.

Sample Prayer

Start praying God will reveal their God given destiny. Jacob had to wrestle with God to change his character of cheating and deceiving to be able to fulfill his destiny. We need to allow people space to have encounters with God that change their character. This is part of the ability to choose or the free will that God has given us. God has placed a desire in us for fulfillment. The problem is we try to fulfill that need with other things. That was the lesson Adam and Eve learned in the Garden of Eden.

You could pray like this: May (person’s name) come to know Jesus. May the damage done through life’s traumas be removed. I ask Holy Spirit to intervene in their life and show them God’s destiny for them. Reveal the lies that have held them captive and show them God’s love and kindness. May they see the path of abundant life God has for them because of Jesus’ death and resurrection. I stand-in-the-gap for these people and ask for God’s best for their lives. I cast down the lies that have entangled them and ask Holy Spirit to reveal God’s truth that will set them free.

Protection Against Curses!

Understanding and praying for people who curse you is how you bring God’s Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Words spoken can have an effect on you and your circle of influence. Have you ever felt like someone is watching you or feel like a cycle of mishap is occurring in your life? Maybe you are feeling fearful or have overwhelming worry, but you don’t understand why you feel this way.

How do you deal with these curses and overwhelming feelings? It is learning to see God as a Big God who loves us. Elisha had been protecting Israel by using the gift of the word of knowledge, (which is when God reveals insight into a situation). The Aramean king sent his army to capture Elisah. Elisah helped his servant face his fear when an Arameans’ army surrounded them. Elisha had a gift of discernment, which allowed him to see what is going on in the supernatural realm of the spirit world. Elisha told his servant to not be afraid because “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them (army).” Then Elisha prayed for his servant’s eyes to be opened to see God’s angel army in chariots of fire, who were on their side.

Ask God to be bigger in your life than the fears and worries that overwhelm your thinking. Claim God’s word over your life for finances, health and other problems. Ask Jesus to lead you to God’s best path and tap into the Holy Spirit’s wisdom for victory in your life. “May your eyes be open to see God’s provision and protection in Jesus’ name!”

You may see roadblocks or tripping-up patterns in your life that keep you from moving forward. Bind a spirit of harassment.

If you feel weighed down with life’s events go to Jesus. He makes the yokes or burdens of life easier to carry without all the guilt and condemnation. You can write down your problems. Present them to God and burn them up or put a cross over them. Then watch how God will lift each burden. Write down the answers. This will encourage you that God hears you. This allows you to see the fruit of your prayers and increases your faith. I call this checking the fruit of my prayers. “May all false burdens be lifted, in Jesus’ name!”

Sometimes you may feel agitated for no reason in the natural. Other times you will feel static in your life. It is like walking into a noisy room where you get distracted from everything going on in the room. This usually means someone spoke ungodly words over you. These words box in your gifts and try to disrupt your connection to God’s voice. When this happens to me, it usually means someone spoke words over me that don’t line up with God’s will for my life. It could be a well-meaning prayer by a religious person. It could be a curse spoken by those opposing Christians. When this happens, I take communion. Taking communion breaks anything that comes against my natural body which includes thinking processes. The wine symbolizes that we are no longer ruled by this world, but God’s Kingdom is where we abide. Curses, lies, or misguided words have no power over us. May all false words spoken over you be broken!

Prayer

I forgive all who have spoken over me words that do not line up for God’s destiny for me. I ask that You reveal if I have spoken words over myself or others that do not line up with Your will. Please forgive me and show me how to correct my thinking. I thank You, Jesus, for providing for all my physical needs because of Your death and resurrection. I set a bloodline boundary as I acknowledge the price You paid to set me free from this world’s bondages. I choose to trust God to direct my path.

My Prayer for You!

May all ungodly words spoke over you that don’t line up with God’s destiny be broken over you. May you discover and walk in Gods destiny. May you not lean to your own understanding but rely on God’s word and the Holy Spirit to guide you to God’s truths. Because of Jesus and His shed Blood, amen!
