Stinking Thinking – Lies You Believe!

Ungodly mindsets creep into our thoughts process by living in this world’s environment. As you remove stinking thinking and receive God’s view of you, then you will discover what thoughts are yours or lies you received from unhealthy influences. This allows you to discern the atmosphere or culture around you! Holy Spirit can reveal God’s truth to counteract wrong influences in your environment. God’s opinion about us is greater than all other opinions or judgments.

Ephesians 4:14-15 TPT “Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”

Our normal thought patterns become internal truths that govern our lives. There are thought patterns that we may not be conscience of that dictate how we see events. This chart reveals the tainted thinking linked with worldly lies that have been used to make us victims instead of victorious freedom warriors.

How to Shift Your Thinking!

Here are some questions you can ask Holy Spirit that will help reveal the wrong mindsets you may have.

1. Holy Spirit, do I have any ungodly mindset you want to change today?
   1. When a picture or thought comes to mind then ask God what it means?
2. Ask Holy Spirit if this event caused you to accept a lie through your feelings, by a decision, or some other way it shifted your belief system.
3. Do I need to forgive anyone including myself, another person, or unfair treatment in a situation?
   1. If someone comes to your mind, acknowledge the harm this person did. Then forgive them as an act of faith not a feeling. Feelings with line up with forgiveness but the first step is a choice to forgive. Forgiveness takes our hands off our cries for justice and places justice in God’s hands to redeem, restore, and compensate for the damage. This way we focus on God and not on the person who may never repent. Forgiveness breaks off the bondage that the unjust act caused.
4. Once you discover the lie, feeling, or unforgiveness, hand it over to God to turn beauty for ashes (Isaish 61:3). This means replace the lie or event in God’s hands. Ask God for justice from the harm this lie brought in your life. Then exchange the lie or damage with what God has provided (see examples in the chart).
5. Ask Holy Spirit to remove all the trauma, false mindsets, and give you the new path to abundant life.
6. Ask Holy Spirit, to reveal what scriptures will remove the old way of thinking and produce a victorious life.

God’s truths take time to digest. It is a process of receiving a new perspective and learning to walk out the new way of thinking. When we do this our reality shifts to God’s view of us. Once the lie is removed and we receive God’s view of us, then we will see life producing growth in our lives. (Romans 12: a renewed mind). An example of this is when I got up in the morning and looked in the mirror. I would say, “Let’s see how bad I look.” The Holy Spirit corrected this mindset by saying “Let’s see how good I look!”

2 Corinthians 10:5 TPT “We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.”

Many times, we hid our missteps and mistakes instead of turning them over to God. Handing over bad habits and mindset to Holy Spirit allows him to transform us into what God originally intended for our lives (Matthew 7:17-19, 12:33-34 good fruit). Walking through this process to renewal our minds allow us to discern the atmosphere or culture around us. It causes us to know when it is something in us or if we are picking up the spiritual circumstances around us. 

Remember!

You are God’s kid if you have asked Jesus to forgive you and take over your life. Your new identity is you are the “King’s kid!”

Prayer

Father God,

Help! Forgive me for all the wrong thoughts and mindsets I have developed over my lifetime. I ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Your truth and remove the webs of deception that have caused me to stumble into defeat. I want to live a victorious life that sets the captives free and that includes me! I will break ties of unhealthy lies that Holy Spirit reveals. I ask for Your truth to replace these lies. Thank You for not giving up on me and that You are my Father who watches out for me. Thank You Jesus for paying a price to remove the guilt and condemnation by restoring me to the family of God. Thank You Holy Spirit for helping me and preparing me for victory in this life.
