Are You Willing to Wrestle with God?

This season of dissatisfaction is an opportunity to be transformed. It is a season of removal of both old things and good things. God is allowing the turmoil and pressure of the world’s system to transform us into new wine skins. New wineskins are required to contain new ways of solving problems that seem impossible to solve.

I see Jacob as an example of being transformed. He received a stolen inheritance that he knew was his destiny. Instead of waiting on God, his mother, Rebekah helped Jacob disguise himself as Esau and stole the blessing. He had to leave his family because of the wrath of his brother, Esau.

Removing Family Curses!

Jacobs had an encounter with God and made a vow to follow God. For many years, Jacob lived and worked for Laban, his mother’s brother. Laban, like his sister Rebekah, had a history of cheating and using deception to get what they wanted. God used the years of working for Laban, to remove this inherited ancestry curse from Jacob. When it was time for Jacob to go home and face his family, Laban kept changing the rules.

God gave Jacob a divine strategy to overcome the situation. God restored Jacob’s finances by using a spotted stick that gave him all the strong sheep. This provided a way out of the world’s system that he was entrapped in.

Jacob had to wrestle with God to face his fears of his brother’s wrath and confront his past. God used all these things to change Jacob’s character. The transformation was complete, and Jacob’s name was changed to Israel.

This is a season of wrestling with God. Who or what are we trusting in? Some must face the fear of letting go of control and trusting God. Others it is letting go of our own works, ministries, or abilities. God is using, all we have walked through, to transform us from our Jacob’s attributes to become kingdom of God disciples. Disciples have gone through the training required to be world changes.

Prayer

Help Father God,

Forgive me for trying to trust in my own ability to fulfill my destiny. Just like Peter, one minute I receive revelation and the next minute, I tell you how to do it. Thank you for never giving up on me. I do want your best for my life. I am choosing to trust you to get me on the right path and keep me on it. I give Holy Spirit permission to correct and direct me. Thank you, Jesus, for covering all my mistakes. Amen!
