I am finally settled in my new home. Things still need to be done, but overall, most of the major things are complete. This was a long process of picking wrong homes and figuring out where God wanted me. The responsibility of owning a home was overwhelming. I have rented and moved eleven times since 1998. Most of those times, I was being sent on assignment to bring changes to those places. God never sends you for just others. Obeying God changes you as you walk out those assignments.
In the process of all these changes, it seemed like I had lost my childlike trust that God was in control. Without realizing it, I had shifted from the view that I serve a big God, to a defensive position of trying to not let the world’s systems box me into their mode. Just like the trend to paint buildings grey and remodel your house in grey tones, my mind had a grey film that has colored my mindset to be in a defensive position. Life has a way of cluttering the voice of God.
Numbing Stings of Living in this World!
Why am I telling on myself? Life has a way of numbing us to the stings that the world throws at us. If we are not careful, we will become numb to God’s leading. Years ago, God gave me a life scripture that has protected me from going too far down a wrong path.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways and he will direct your path.”
When I discovered this scripture, it changed my life. It caused me to realize, that my job was to trust God. This scripture gave God permission to correct me if I was taking a wrong road. I remember being worried about missing God’s best when God revealed this scripture. He said, in a small still voice inside my heart, “Don’t you pray Proverbs 3:5-6?” I said, “Yes.” He said, “I am able to correct and protect you. Trust me!”
Great Faith
Great faith is not based on our works of confessing the word of God, working hard, and being good. These things are the fruit of great faith. Great faith is based on trusting a BIG God who loves you. This is the childlike faith that Jesus spoke of. A faith that God is in control, and we don’t have to outmaneuver the world’s moves to be overcomers.
Walking in God’s kingdom will bypass the world’s system. Jesus proved this over and over again. He walked on water to go on a mission. When people were furious at Jesus, they tried to push him off a cliff. He walked right through the crowd of angry people and went on his way. He paid taxes with a coin found in a fish’s mouth.
Great faith is knowing that God is directing your path. Jesus paid the price to bring us into God’s kingdom as sons and daughters. Our part is to realize that Father God is watching over us and directing our path. We don’t have to network as much as we need to trust God to connect us to the right people. Like a good father, God correct us if we are wrong. Jesus didn’t plot the events in his life. He just was obedient to the next step on the path. This allowed God to orchestrate the things required to fulfill God’s will for his life.
A Prayer for You!
Father God,
Thank you for being a big God who has made a path for us to take that is protected and directed by you. Remove the grey areas that have caused a film over our thinking. We want to walk in the childlike faith of knowing you love us and are greater than all the world’s traps. We ask to see through the kingdom of God’s perspective. Forgive us for allowing wounds and fears to dictate our destinies. We bind fears, traumas, and wrong voices of the world. We ask for your peace, understanding, and strength to walk out our destinies. We chose to trust the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on your own understanding. We acknowledge him in all our ways, and he will direct our paths. Your kingdom come and may your will be done in our lives. Because of Jesus and his blood and empowered by Holy Spirit, amen!
