There are so many different resources and advice to solve all our problems in this modern world of the internet. Some of it works. Some of it doesn’t work. It is frustrating when a solution works for someone else but doesn’t do a thing to change your situation. One of the reasons for this winning and losing game of chance is because God created us all different.
King Saul’s Amour!
God’s Word works for everyone but His timing and way to fulfill that word may be different. A good example of this is when King Saul tried to give David his armor. It was a season of war between the Philistines and Israel. King Saul was a “head taller” than anyone else. David was a young man much smaller in stature than Saul. David was the only one brave enough to fight Goliath, who was a giant. When David volunteered to fight, King Saul gave David his armor which didn’t fit David. Instead, David, used the skills God gave him which was a sling with five smooth stones. This infuriated Goliath to think a small young man would try to defeat him without a sword and amour. David defeated Goliath with one stone and Goliath’s own sword.
The lesson is what works for one doesn’t always work the same way for someone else. God has many paths and solutions that are individually planned for our good. Some people get healed or have a miracle instantly. Others walked out a path of recovery that takes longer to be healed. It is God’s will to heal? Yes. But there are so many ways God heals. Don’t let the lie that “if you don’t get a miracle then you don’t have faith” stop you from trusting God. I asked God about why this happens. He showed me that it takes more faith to walk out a path of healing than to be instantly healed. It is kind of like when the children of Israel were entering the promise land. They were taking the land “little by little” so the children of Israel could grow in numbers to occupy the land. Some healings require us to grow to maintain our health and learn some lessons for future needs.
Our Attitudes Affect Our Outcomes!
When Jesus healed the men with leprosy, only the Samaritan came back and thanked him. The Passion Translation Bible says, “Then Jesus said to the healed man lying at his feet, “Arise and go. It was your faith that brought you salvation and made you whole.” The other lepers were healed but this Samaritan found salvation and wholeness.” Our attitudes affect our outcomes!
Jesus went to the Pool of Bethesda where a multitude of people were waiting for an angel to stir the water. The first one into the pool would be healed. Jesus only went to one man to ask if he wanted to be well. After Jesus told the crippled man to pick up his mat and walk, the man was cured. Jesus later advised this healed man not to sin again, or worst things could happen to him. Later, the religious leaders accused the healed man of breaking the law because he was carrying his mat on the Sabbath. It was later the healed man found out that Jesus healed him. He reported Jesus to the religious leaders. Why didn’t Jesus stop and heal more sick people who were at the pool? I think this act of healing was to show why some people don’t get healed because it could lead to worst things until there is an attitude adjustment. This healing also shows God’s love and mercy in spite of our attitude. It wasn’t that God didn’t want to heal but God’s timing was involved. Plus, it wasn’t Jesus’ assignment to heal everyone at the pool. God only directed him to one person.
God’s Timing Is Not Always Our Timing.
I walked through thirteen years of twelve different surgeries. I couldn’t figure out why all these operations had to happen. I started concentrating on trying to eat better and exercise. Then I fell playing pickleball and had a nine-month recovery time. I was still seeking God about my health and standing for healing. Since I couldn’t seem to get healed, I focused more on a healthy lifestyle.
Our church was having a service at our local Double-A Baseball Team’s stadium. Our service was done so I was exiting the stadium through the entrance gate. Just as I was going through the gate, a lady stepped backwards, and I tripped over her extended leg. The fall caused me facture my wrist which required surgery to put a metal brace in my arm to support the wrist. Another operation! So, I was mad at God for a week. When my emotions settled down, a thought came to me to see when all these health problems started. Looking back, I found the beginning of this thirteen-year journey.
God had given me a dream in 2012 about multiple tornadoes going up and down a city street hunting people. Three weeks later I ended up going to a convention in Texas. When I arrived at the conference site for a pre-conference prayer meeting, it was the building I saw in the dream. To make a long story short, a few days later I was in West Texas getting ready to pray at a friend’s ranch. The group of prayer warriors had finished praying and were talking inside of a church. I got hit with a strong urgency to pray and intercede, so I went outside. I started rebuking a spirit of death and destruction. I was led to declare no one would die. About ten minutes went by and the peace of God came on me and the urgency to intercede lifted. We then went to my friends ranch to pray.
There was no cell phone reception at this West Texas ranch. Around five hours later when we could get cell phone reception, our phones started ringing with people checking on us. That is when I found out that 17 tornadoes hit Ft. Worth and Dallas not long after I prayed on April 3, 2012. No one died in that storm! I am sure others were praying to, but God had given me a warning dream and anointed me too stand-in-the-gap for these cities.
Six months later, my health started to deteriorate. I was losing strength and stamina. It was later the following year I was hit with aggressive cancer. That is when I walked through the thirteen years of health problems. When God showed me this pattern of death and destruction, I realized that breaking the death and destruction of the 17 tornadoes put an assignment of death on my life. I broke the devil’s assignment against me. My wrist is totally healed with no loss of function. I learned to trust God for healing me instead of my own ability, knowledge, and strength.
Why didn’t I see this before? I don’t know but I do know that I learned to use these attacks by offering these trials up to God. I learned that when I give God my hard circumstances, they can become sacrifices to come to new levels of authority. I faced fear and death. I received God’s strength and determination to walk through this valley of the shadow of death. I now have a new arsenal of weapons and testimonies that can set people free. Each victory I received has given me authority to overcome the devil’s attacks and pray for others.
The Wrap Up!
God has different plans and purposes for all of us. He knew when we would be born and what family dynamics would shape our lives. God uses what is meant to destroy us and redeems it by giving us more authority and power. When we know that God loves us and we are rooted in our identity as “God’s Kid” we can walk through dark times. Walking with the Holy Spirit guidance allows God to remove mindset that could hinder God’s plans for our lives.
Is everyone going to get an assignment of death against them when they pray? No! Most people might get hit with harassing attacks that would try to discourage them. Like when you pray for someone and they seem to get worse, but when you are in it for the long haul, you will see them change. We all have different levels of authority and function in the Body of Christ. I can’t do what you can do because you can reach people I may never meet. Different assignments require different walks and sacrifices. That doesn’t mean a person is better, it just means they have a different purpose to fulfill in this world. Everyone is needed and has assignments. We can’t fulfill our purpose without each other. I had many different people who sustained me with their prayers as I walked through this process. Without their prayers, I wouldn’t be where I am now in the Lord.
My Prayer for You!
Father God,
All the people who read and share this blog, I ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any assignments against them and if any attitudes need to be changed. I stand in-the-gap for them and ask for any assignments that would stop Your will for their lives to be broken. Your truth and power will set them free. Help them to redeem all the challenging times and turn them into sacrifices that will shift their lives to receive Jesus’ abundant provision. Because of Jesus’s sacrifice, amen!
Prayer!
Father God,
I just want to be who You created me to be. I may not always understand why I must walk through things, but I am choosing to trust You. Help me to see patterns in my life that need to be turned over to You. Allow the traps of the devil to be broken over my life. Show me how to walk through these events to release abundant life that Jesus provided. I ask Holy Spirit to reveal any mindset that needs to change. Give me scriptures that provide guidance and strength to overcome all situations that are not in Your will. I am choosing to trust that You have a plan for my life.
