You can have friends, family, and co-workers, and feel a sense of belonging. You have a place to fit in life. Yet, deep inside there can be a loneliness that causes a feeling of being disconnected. It is a need of someone partnering with you and knowing they have your back. Someone going the same path you are called to walk in your personal life.
In Genesis, chapters two and three, God created Adam but saw it was not good for him to be alone. Eve was taken from Adam’s side to show the life partnership God created for them. It revealed a partnership of walking side by side or someone going the same direction in life. When Adam chose to follow Eve’s decision it broke their connection with God and left them feeling uncovered. When they chose a different path God set in motion a way to restore that connection.
Disconnection!
This disconnection happened in our spirit. When Adam was created God used the dirt to make his earthly body. Adam had dominion over all that God created on the earth. God created Adam with a soul that allowed him to think, feel, and make decisions. When God breathed into Adam to bring life, that was the spiritual link to God. When Adam and Eve chose to use their free will to not trust God, the disconnection happen in their spirit. It caused their bodies to be naked without the spiritual connection and their souls to feel fear. The fear of death was released because without the spiritual connection there is no life with God. You see this principle in the New Testament when Jesus cried out “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46).
Ephesians 2:1-2 NIV “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.”
Jesus’s death had to happen in the natural to restore our spirit, soul, and body. Restoring our soul is a process of meditating on God’s word and aligning our emotions to God’s truths. In 2 Corinthians 4:26, it shares how our inner self is being renewed day by day.
Romans 12:2 NIV “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
This process allows our body and soul to connect to our kingdom’s resources. Our renewed minds cause us to tap into what we lost in the garden!
Why is this taking so long?
The Old Testament gives a picture of restoring mankind through obedience and acts of sacrifices. In the New Testament, Jesus’s sacrifice restored all that was stolen from us. It requires the acceptance of Jesus’s sacrifice as our own. When we accept Jesus as Lord, it reconnects us back to our spiritual walk with God.
Ephesians 2:4-10 NIV “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Why don’t we see an instance transformation when we are saved from this spiritual death? Because the enemy of God has planted seeds of destruction that need to be pull up from our bloodline. Just as the children of Israel were given the promise land, they were still required to displace the enemies who occupied the land. As we displace lies and replace them with God’s truths in our lives, we will see the restoration of all that was lost.
Jesus’s earthly presence was replaced by the Holy Spirit. In John, chapter 16, it talks about the Holy Spirit’s partnering with us to help us and restore us to our kingdom roots.
John 16:12-15 NIV “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
Repositioning with the Godhead!
Father God!
Connecting with God provides a Father, provision, protection, and identity. If you have problems with identity, fear of authority, or feeling unprotected this is usually linked to an unhealthy father or authority figure relationship.
In the Old Testament, God did not show himself as a father. God as a Father was only mentioned a few times in the Old Testament. In Isaiah 64:8 & 9:6 it refers to God as our mighty God and everlasting Father. He was the Ruler or Master (Genesis 15:2), the Judge, Lawgiver, and King (Isaiah 33:22), a Mighty God (El Shaddai), the Creator (Isaiah40:28), and the Deliverer (2 Samuel 22:2 & Psalm 18:2).
It wasn’t until Jesus died and paid the price for our sins that our connection with God was ungraded to a loving Father. You see repeatedly Jesus talking about God being a Father.
Ephesians 3:14-15 NIV “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom all fatherhood in heaven and on earth is named.
The term Abba means Papa (Mark 14:36, Romans 8:15, and Galatians 4:6). Abba shows the relationship Jesus restored for sonship and siblings. In Matthew 5:16 & 45 NIV “your good works glorify your Father who is in heaven.” In 2 Corinthians 6:18 NIV “And, I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” (El Shaddai or Omnipotent). Hebrews 12:7 NIV “Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.” In 1 John 3:1 NIV talks about God’s great love as a Father lavished on us.
One of the main differences of God as a Father is that it means we have an inheritance. Sons and daughters do not work for an inheritance (Romans 8:17). It doesn’t mean we don’t work because the law of sowing and reaping is still in effect. Think about this! When Jesus taught us to pray it was “Our Father” (Matthew 7:7-11).
Prayer
Father God,
Help! My earthly connections with fathers and those in authority over me have clouded the way I think about You as my Father. I understand that you are still God Almighty and Creator of the universe, but Jesus provided a way for me to connect to You as my Father. I am asking you to help me to see what that means in my life and take the limits off my thinking. Forgive me for the disbelief and misunderstanding of being your kid. Because of Jesus, amen!
Jesus
When I was first saved, I knew Jesus as my Savior and Door to God. I had to learn to understand the many roles he has in my life. Connecting with Jesus provides companionship, communication, and leadership. It you have problems with your siblings, co-works, team cooperation, or friendships this usually shows a disconnection with Jesus and understanding the role he plays in a Christian’s life.
Jesus is our Friend, Lord, Savior, and King (Luke 12:4, Romans 10:12, Philippians 3:20, Revelation 16:14). In Revelation 3:20, Jesus is always available. Jesus is our connection to God’s life (John 14:13). In John 15:15, you can see our relationship changes from servant to friend. In Hebrews 2:17 it says he is our older Brother. He is our Mediator and Intercessor in Romans 8:34. We are God children and co-heirs with Jesus (Romans 8:16-17). We have access to God despite our weaknesses because of Jesus (Hebrews 4:16). His death and resurrection provided abundant grace causing us to be righteous which allows us to reign in this life (Romans 5:17).
Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, but he reveals God as our Father. In Matthew 11:27 TPT it says, “But the Son is able to unveil the Father to anyone he chooses.” Jesus has wisdom and strategy for us as we walk with him in this life.

In your name, amen!
Holy Spirit
Connecting with Holy Spirit provides comfort, teaching, nurturing, and direction. If you have weakness with receiving comfort, asking for help, or fear of the unknown, this could be because of not linking with your mother and other nurturing people in your life. This is why there can be a disconnect or distrust of Holy Spirit. Many times, you see the fruit of this disconnection by being self-reliant, perfectionist, and appear distant with others.
Jesus instructed the apostles to wait receive God’s promise. In Luke 24:49 NIV. “but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power for on high.” This power was the Holy Spirit who was sent in place of Jesus’s earthly walk (Acts 1:8). Without this filling of Holy Spirit, we live a life powered by our own strength.
Romans 15:13 NIV “May the God of hope fill you will all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of Holy Spirit.”
Holy Spirit’s Names
An Advocate (1 John 2:1). A Helper and Teacher (John 16:7 and 14:16-17 & 26, 1 John 2:27). Holy Spirit wants to walk with us in this life (2 Corinthians 13:14). The Spirit of wisdom and truth (Ephesians 1:17). The Holy Spirit is our Intercessor (Romans 8:26-27). He provides spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:1-11, Hebrews 2:4). He causes our lives to produce God’s Kingdom fruit (Galatians 5:22-25). He’s the guarantee of our spiritual inheritance (Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30; 2 Corinthians 1:22). He keeps us on the right path by correcting us (John 16:8-11). Spirit of grace (Hebrews 10:29).
Prayer
Holy Spirit,
Forgive me for depending on myself instead of trusting you. Help me to stop being self-reliant and fearful to reach out to others. Please, heal the wounds of distrust and reconnect me to my dependence on the Godhead. Restore my emotional health. I want all the gifts you have for me. I need your empowerment to have victory in this life and expand God’s Kingdom. I invite you into my life to connect me to all God has for me, because of Jesus, amen!
