Good Intentions!

Many of us have heard the words “Good Intentions pave the road to hell!” That is true. Knowing there is a God doesn’t get you into heaven. Not even being good will get you into heaven. It is only by accepting Jesus’s sacrifice for your mistakes and asking him to take over your life do you receive the ticket to heaven.

The good intentions I am talking about are good people doing good things. You might have a great idea for a project. Wonderful! The only problem is our good ideas are NOT necessarily God’s ideas.

I had this vision, in December 2021, of a city with ladders extended upright that led nowhere. I started praying that God would remove the ladders that didn’t lead to his kingdom. That the people would be okay but would wake up from building their own structures and build God’s kingdom. In John 15:5-8, this parable explains how to abide in the vine. This means staying connected to what Jesus is doing. We have a choice to live our lives separated from God’s direction which can leave us powerless.

A Good Idea or a God Idea?

What is the difference between a good idea and a God idea? A good idea requires hard work on your part with success but not necessarily happiness or satisfaction. It means you have to maintain what you built. It sometimes requires you kicking down doors that are blocked. Many times, you end up at the end of your journey in confusion without God’s blessing.

God’s ideas or dreams require work, but it comes with open doors and favor. It is partnering with God as the El Shaddai. El Shaddai means God is here for you and he steps in for what you cannot do for yourself (Genesis 17; Isaiah 6). It does require us allowing God to be in control of the project. Dying to self and our own ideas can leave us with a limp. Jacob wrestle with God to finally give God all the control over his destiny.

God finances what he assigns us to do. Kris Vallotton said, 1“God is Pro-vision … He provides for His Vision.” We may not like how he does it or the timing of completing the project, but that what it means when he says, “all things work together for the good.” He sees the big picture which sometimes means we have to understand there are other people’s lives involved. It not just about us!

Are you willing?

It is pretty simple to get on this path. The hard part is staying willing when the enemy throws every roadblock in your way including the kitchen sink. All we have to do is be willing to be willing.

I was complaining to God about my life and how unfair it was. He said, “I never promised you a that life would be fair. I promised a life of overcoming.” I later said, “I have been obedient, but it isn’t working.” He said, “You are obedient but not willing. It is the obedient and willing that reap the benefits of my blessings.” I responded by saying, “I am willing to be willing. I give you permission to change my will to your will.” After that, my life became an adventure and not a survival endurance test.

So, are you ready to walk a supernatural life filled with unexpected detours and delays that set people free? This is how doors are open for God’s abundant life.

Prayer

Father God,

I am willing to be willing. I am trusting you to change my will. I am submitting my dreams and desires to you. I stand on your word in Proverbs 3:5-7. I choose to trust in you Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own wisdom or knowledge. I ask that you take over my destiny. Please keep me on the best path for my life. I and trusting that you see the big picture and will reveal to me what my next step is. I want your best and not what I think is best because I know you love me!

Thank you, Jesus for the price you paid. You are my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Holy Spirit for empowering me to walk the right path. I am ready to go on a God Adventure with you! Amen.
