When swamps are being drain, there is all kinds of creatures that are uncovered. You need to be careful and not get distracted by what is going on around you or you could fall and get hurt.
I play these video games where you have to clear certain items from the playing field to win the game. What I found out when playing these games is that they change what needs to be cleared. You may have had to clear a certain item for ten games but then they sneak in that this item is no longer required to be removed to win.
Why am I telling you my gaming insight? This is what is happening in the world right now. There is truth on both sides of the issues happening in the world. The problem is both the right and left sides are trying to get you to believe their side. Don’t fall for these traps that are being dangled in front of you.
You need to stay focused on the path God has for you. Jesus will lead you through this time of confusion. Jesus’s kingdom is not of this world. He walked this earth in human form and conquered the real source of evil.
We are not here to promote a certain political party but are here to represent Jesus and his kingdom. We have the authority and power to bring God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus changed the world with no internet, printing press, or news media. Can you imagine with all the resources we have available, how we can change our circles of influence when we tap into the power Jesus has given us? Ask for the Holy Spirit to reveal what is really going on and for the grace to walk out your destiny. Below is a teaching on the power of God’s discernment that is available to you.
The Power of Discernment
Jesus entered the temple area and overturned the tables of the money changers.
The next day, Jesus headed back to the temple and saw the fig tree. Jesus saw a fig tree with leaves which meant there should be fruit. When he saw there was no fruit, He curse the fig tree at the root, and it died. He then taught the disciples about discernment and fruit.
“Jesus replied, ‘I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
To understand the power of discernment, you must have a heart to put God first. John 5:19-20 “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him ever greater things than theses.”
Discernment is based on a love relationship between you and God. This allows true discernment to work uncluttered by wounds, experiences, and biases. Then God can release a gift of discernment that has power to tear down strongholds, set the captives free, and curse the roots of unfruitful distractions (Isaiah 61).
Why did Jesus really curse the fig tree? The day before he overturned the money changer tables and confronted the religious leaders about His authority. The fig tree was a sign that God was now bring judgment on fruitless religious and business activities. These religious and business activities looked like they were doing good. They appear as leaves on the fig tree. But they were not feeding God’s people. They were feeding their own egos and lining their own pockets.
When Jesus cursed the fig tree, He was cursing the root of good works. These works did not produce fruit that feeds God’s people. True discernment sees pass the good works and removes the disguises that hide true motives. True discernment has a power to bring life or death. This discernment allows us to see what God see. It removes the hidden distractions and reveals the truth. Then we have God’s power to remove these hindrances.
Prayer
Father God,
Forgive me for getting distracted from your path. I choose to follow you and ask for the Holy Spirit to give me the grace, peace, and discernment that I need for this season in my life. I refuse to be in fear and trust that you are bigger than all the events going on around me. I claim Jesus as my Savior and Lord. I want your best for me and those around me that I can help. I declare, “Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in my circle of influence.” Amen!
